Birch (European White) Bonsai Tree Type (Outdoors) BIRCH (EUROPEAN WHITE) -

HARDY>HARDY DECIDUOUSTREE>DECIDUOUS TREE with thin peeling white BARK and MEdium sized "inverted teardrop SHAPEd LEAVES with slightly serrated edges.

Prevalent all over Europe - in mountains in the south and in the lowlands further north.

STYLE : Suitable for most styles except literati but particularly good for group diplays. 

WARNING : Needs light and water.  Never allow soil to dry out




Care Info

BIRCH (EUROPEAN WHITE) -

LOCATION : Prefers warm, sunny position with lots of light.

REPOT : Every 2-3 years while young, and less frequently when older, in early spring just prior to BUD>BUD burst.

SOIL : 60% soil, 20% PEAT, 20% coarse sand. Balance can be adjusted according to local conditions. pH 5.0-6.0.

PRUNE : Early/late winter for main or CROSSing branches.  Remove SUCKERS which arise from the basis of the trunk promptly.

PINCH : Trim new SHOOTS constantly throughout sumMEr, to one or two LEAVES.

WATER : DAI>DAIly throughout growing season but infrequently during winter months.

FEED : Start BALANCED FEED one month after bud burst thenevery two weeks during growing period, with a gap in mid summer.  In autumn use a fertilizer high in POTASSIUM.
